“Not Me but You”

The National Service Scheme unit of this College was started in 2003 and functions under H.N.B. Garhwal University as directed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. (N.S.S. Section) The objective of NSS is to create social awareness among the students and the all-round development of their personality. The N.S.S. Unit of this College conducts regular and special camps, awareness classes, demonstrations, personality development programs etc. for the volunteers. Blood donation to the needy and required patients is a laudable activity of the N.S.S. There is one NSS units in this College (Unit 331). The volunteer strength of unit is 100. The scheme is implemented by Program Officers working under the supervision of a Coordinator. Students of Under-graduate courses are eligible for enrolling under the Scheme. Students enrolled in the NSS have to participate in its activities for two years for obtaining the NSS Certificate. So students should be registered for NSS at the time of admission. Re-registration is necessary for 2nd yr. students. Two programs are conducted in this scheme. 1. Regular program. 2. Day – night 7 days Camp Program. The regular activities and special camps of NSS are organized under the Scheme. Only such students who put in 120 hours of social work every year under routine activities for two years and have attended at least one special camp are eligible for receiving the NSS “A” Certificate. Student will be awarded a social service certificate only if they have spent 240 hr. in the regular programs as well as attended 7 days’ camp. For the NSS ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificate, student should qualify the respective exam conducted by the university.
